Optimal Power Tuning
Engines with higher compression ratios,
superchargers, or turbochargers are built to use only premium octane so
there's one tuning program. When a vehicle can also use standard octane,
regular & premium programs are available. Hypertech's exclusive
regular program provides excellent power gains (almost as much as
premium octane) while premium provides all-out power.
RPM Rev Limiter
In today's vehicles, onboard computers
control maximum RPM; the stock computer is programmed to shut down the
engine when it "redlines." However, if a vehicle has been altered to
increase high-speed performance, more RPM means more power. As you shift
gears with the stock RPM limit, the engine falls back to below its
horsepower peak. When RPM range is extended using the Max Energy Sport
Power Programmer, more power is available after gear changes. By
adjusting maximum RPM to keep the engine in the "sweet spot" of its
power curve, you can increase the average horsepower that accelerates
the vehicle.
0-60 Throttle Restriction
"Selectable throttle
restriction" tunes the engine control system for better low-speed
performance without sacrificing drivability, but it does not disable
torque management completely. There are several torque management
systems active at any given time while driving. Upon completing R&D
to assess results, the best tuning combination was implemented to
improve overall performance and drivability under all driving
conditions. The effect was so dramatic Hypertech felt users would
benefit more by controlling rather than forcing the modification.
Top-Speed Limiter
Automobile manufacturers limit a
vehicle's top speed to match the speed rating of the factory-installed
tires. If tires with a different speed rating have been installed, the
Max Energy Sport Power Programmer allows you to adjust the top-speed
limiter to match the new rating. This feature should only be used for
off-highway competition in sanctioned events.
Return-to-Stock Setting
The Max Energy Sport Power
Programmer saves your stock tuning program and then uploads your custom
program. Before your vehicle goes to a dealership for service, always
restore its factory settings. Programmers can only be used on one
vehicle at a time; if you sell your vehicle or want to program a
different vehicle, reset the stock tune and then use the programmer on
the other compatible vehicle.
Internet Updatable
Programmers include a USB cable and
software CD to enable quick updates via the internet. If your vehicle
has a new calibration not available when your programmer was
manufactured, it is possible the programmer screen will flash "Cal not
found." When this occurs, go online to add the new calibration to your
programmer: connect the programmer to your computer with the USB cable,
visit hypertech.com, and click on "Support" to access updates. Or,
updates can be downloaded from the software CD, which also contains an
installation video and printable instruction manual.
Diagnostics
If your vehicle's "check engine" or
"service needed" light turns on, the Max Energy Sport Power Programmer
allows you to read and clear the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) to shut
off the light. You can then make the necessary repairs to prevent the
code's recurrence.
